Tips
Tip 1: To keep your door and parts running smoothly call
your garage door company once a year for a maintenance.
Tip 2: Problem: Your door won’t close all the way. It
starts to, then stops and goes back up:
Possible Solution: You probably have a photo eye
out of alignment, or there is something interfering with it.
The Photo Eyes are the two boxes at the bottom of your
garage door, one on each side. Start by checking the
interference part. Clean the eye so it is free of spider
webs etc, make sure the garbage can or chair or broom handle
etc. is not crossing the beam. Now check your photo eye.
Usually if this is happening the red light will be blinking
and the green light will be solid. If this is the case, move
the red photo eye so it is obvious that it is out of
alignment and then slowly move it back into alignment, until
you can see that it is aligned with the green eye. The red
light should stop blinking and you can then run your door.
Tip 3: Problem: Garage door only opens up a little
ways, then stops.
Suggestion: If your door is motorized, disconnect
the motor from the door by pulling your emergency release
cord. Try to run the door manually. If the door moves up and
down smoothly disconnected from the opener then you know you
have a opener/motor problem. If the door won’t open
smoothly, feels like it’s getting stuck or won’t move at
all, you probably have a broken spring. Check your springs
for any obvious breaks or gaps between the coils. If you
have a broken spring please contact your garage door company
to change them out.
